DTF Printing Guidelines & Application Instructions

Follow these steps and image requirements to ensure your transfers press cleanly and accurately.

Recommended Equipment

For the best results, we strongly recommend using a commercial heat press for DTF transfers.

Pre-Press Steps

  • Pre-press garment for 10 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.
  • If aligning your design by folding the garment, do so before pre-pressing.

Image Guidelines (Upload Requirements)

  • Images must be at least 300 dpi for best quality.
  • Accepted file types: PNG is required for gang sheet orders.
  • Enlarging a 300 dpi image (ex: 3" → 9") can cause pixelation and quality loss.
  • Color shifts may occur when converting from RGB to CMYK for DTF.
  • Do not mirror your image — we handle mirroring if needed.
  • Use transparent backgrounds unless you want the background printed.
  • Minimum recommended size for thin lines or text: 7.5px / 0.25".
  • Avoid neon glow, soft edges, and gradients — these may not print accurately.
